Description
Origin
Organic Deodorised Coconut Oil is produced from organically grown coconuts harvested in Sri Lanka. The oil is carefully expeller-pressed and gently steam-deodorised to remove the characteristic coconut aroma and also the flavour, creating a neutral-tasting cooking oil suitable for everyday use.
What is it?
Kokonati organic deodorised coconut oil is most suited for heated applications, as it is already tempered for high heat by multiple expeller presses. Not raw like the virgin coconut oil, it remains safe to use inside and out. While organic virgin coconut oil is suitable for both raw and heated applications, deodorised coconut oil is more economical to produce than virgin cold-pressed oil, as heat-press processes yield more oil per unit of production than cold-press processes, thereby reducing our cost of production.
How to use?
For cooking, frying, baking, barbecuing, and soap-making. Great for making an exfoliating scrub with fine coffee grounds or soft sugar. Use in place of other oils for everyday cooking.
Ingredients
100% coconut oil extracted from dried coconut kernel. No preservatives. No stabilisers. No additives.
Storage
Keep airtight in the pantry, away from sunlight and damp. Use a dry spoon to scoop out. With a best before of two years from the manufacture date, coconut oil remains safe to use for even longer periods as long as it is stored with minimal exposure to light, air and moisture. This is why Kokonati oil is packed at the origin, in the very plantations from which the coconuts are harvested.
Packaging
200ml and 500ml glass jars | 4 Litre and 20 Litre food-grade plastic pails
Our Promise
There is nothing else. No hydrogenation. No refining. No trans fats. This product supports the traditional livelihoods of villagers in Sri Lanka’s rural coconut triangle. 100% zero-waste: all by-products and waste materials from our coconut oil production are utilised in the manufacture of other nature-friendly products. Additionally, the coconut meal leftover from making white cooking coconut oil is used as animal feed (a.k.a.poonak). Our white cooking coconut oil is internationally accredited by Control Union; Certified Organic (EU and USDA NOP), ISO and/or HACCP certified.

A coconut has more naturally occurring minerals and phytonutrients than any other seed or nut used for extracting oil. This is also why coconut oil has many advantages over other oil sources. 100+ years of coconut expertise
Our Coconut Oil is made by a third-generation coconut miller, an engineer by profession, who has fine-tuned the process to extract the highest-quality coconut oil, backed by generations of coconut expertise. Modernised and certified to ISO and organic standards.
The mill plays a vital role in the welfare and well-being of the village community. The children of our workforce receive school books and stationery for the entire school year! The mill also operates a not-for-profit brick and tile factory and a metal workshop that provide work for the villagers, building materials for the community, and keep the factory equipment ship-shape! Staff quarters are also provided for those who travel far from home. What’s more, we even grow our own organic vegetables onsite so the factory kitchen can provide a wholesome, healthy lunch buffet for all at work.
Price for quality
Our oils are not mass-produced in vast industrial-sized factories. So we do not enjoy the economies of scale that supermarket brands do. But specifically batch-crafted for New Zealand, Kokonati products are made with multigenerational expertise and knowledge to be the best quality possible, so they easily justify the premium price for the premium quality you are getting.
